Spencer William Pratt (born August 14, 1983) is an American reality television personality, producer , and entrepreneur best known for his role as the antagonistic husband of singer and co-star Heidi Montag on MTV's The Hills from 2007 to 2010.

Born in Los Angeles , California , Pratt entered the reality television industry in 2005 as a co-creator and occasional on-screen contributor to Fox's The Princes of Malibu , which followed the lives of Brody and Brandon Jenner and their stepfather, music producer David Foster .

Pratt met Montag in 2006 at a West Hollywood nightclub while she was filming The Hills , and their high-profile, often controversial romance quickly became a defining narrative arc of the series, portraying Pratt as a scheming and overprotective partner.

The couple eloped in Mexico in November 2008 before staging a lavish, televised wedding ceremony in California in November 2009, which aired as part of The Hills season five finale.
