Chris Bledsoe
Chris Bledsoe is an American from North Carolina known for claiming a transformative close encounter with unidentified aerial phenomena on January 8, 2007 near the Cape Fear River , during which he reports experiencing a cure for his Crohn's disease amid personal financial and health difficulties, followed by ongoing anomalous events involving orbs, missing time, and spiritual entities.
While fishing with his teenage son and co-workers on the Cape Fear River on January 8, 2007, Bledsoe reportedly stepped away from the group to pray amid his crises, after which a UFO appeared, resulting in four hours of missing time and a reported healing of his Crohn's disease; upon rejoining the group, they allegedly fled as multiple UFOs pursued them.
Since the initial incident, Bledsoe has described persistent phenomena affecting his family and others, including recurring sightings of glowing orbs , encounters with a feminine spiritual figure referred to as "The Lady," and broader spiritual implications linking UFO experiences to divine consciousness . These experiences form the basis of his 2023 book UFO of GOD: The Extraordinary True Story of Chris Bledsoe , which chronicles his journey and alleges involvement or interest from entities including NASA , the CIA , Vatican officials, professors, remote viewers, and investigators such as former CIA Senior Intelligence Officer Jim Semivan and retired U.S. Army Colonel John B. Alexander .
Bledsoe's accounts have been featured in media including the History Channel series Beyond Skinwalker Ranch and various podcasts, positioning him as a prominent figure in contemporary UFO and high-strangeness discussions.
Chris Bledsoe was born and raised on a family farm in rural North Carolina, where he spent his formative years in a countryside environment centered around agricultural work and outdoor activities. Bledsoe grew up in a modest family and has described having a strong Christian upbringing along with a deep connection to nature during childhood.
His father worked as a carpenter and raised hunting dogs , while his mother was described as a deeply religious woman who instilled strong Christian values in the household. Bledsoe grew up attending the Baptist Church , participating in services at a historic local church that served as both a spiritual and social center for the community.
From an early age, Bledsoe engaged in farm labor, including working in tobacco and hay fields, and occasionally assisting on a neighboring dairy farm . He developed a lifelong passion for hunting , reportedly shooting his first deer at age five and participating in family and community hunting activities on large tracts of land.
At age ten, Bledsoe survived a near-fatal accidental shotgun wound, an event he later recalled as involving a profound out-of-body experience during medical treatment. This rural upbringing, marked by hard work, family involvement in farming and carpentry, and a Baptist religious foundation, shaped Bledsoe's early personal values around self-reliance, faith, and connection to nature.
In the early 1980s, Bledsoe was first married; his first wife died tragically in a car accident after about 11 months and 28 days of marriage, on a notoriously dangerous curve referred to as "Dead Man's Curve" in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area. Bledsoe has described discovering the wrecked vehicle with the engine still running and windows broken out, then finding her body nearby after walking back toward the highway. He has expressed deep guilt over the incident, feeling he should have been there to prevent it, and that the trauma lingered for years. This event is part of the personal hardships he faced before his 2007 UFO encounter.
He later remarried to Teri Bledsoe, with whom he has several children, including son Christopher "Critter" Joseph Bledsoe, Jr., who passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2023, at the age of 31.
