This is a legal thriller about a bailiff, Preston Boemen, and his brother, Frady. As the story unfolds, Preston finds himself working as a bailiff in a jury trial where the defendant is a previously convicted pedophile, charged with hundreds of counts of child pornography. The strain of this trial on Preston is so immense that he suffers a nervous breakdown, which prompts him to kill the defendant during closing arguments. After this episode, Frady comes to Prestons side to represent him in his trial for first-degree murder.
